commencement

Right, I finally got down to blogging about my commencement. There is really nothing much to it although it would be a rather happy occasion if not for the LOSS OF MY PHONE + POUCH!!!

That is the highlight of the day. I lost my trusty Samsung Omnia and my pouch which included an ezylink which is GIRO-linked (can you imagine if someone tap it all over Singapore???!!!!) and my license to auntie-ness – Metro member card (by the way, its my mum’s :S). Although, other than calling for cancellations and getting cards replaced, there isn’t much trouble but it is still rather traumatizing to me.

Because…

It’s the first time I lost my mobile phone in 20 odd years!!!!!!!!

I still couldn’t believe that I actually lost it. Sigh… I am getting old and forgetting things, thus, I forget to look out for my phone and pouch before alighting from the damn shuttle bus! Okay, I shall stop complaining since I didn’t suffer much except for the loss of Omnia.

Before the pictures, I really want to thank GOD that my house keys, dior gloss and ettusais lip repair were all in my bag instead of their usual home – my pouch. I would have lost them too if they were in the pouch and the loss of house keys is the worst! My parents are sure to make a hell out of my life.

Right, pictures.

I looked SUPER fat and round with that gown and mortarboard! Yuckz! While everyone else looked pretty… :(

Dinner at Bosses restaurant @ Vivocity with Isaac’s and my families. We were given a table with a great view of Resorts world and the Star Virgo that was at the harbor.

A day after commencement at Panini Café @ UOB Plaza. Since I was ranting on and on to Isaac about dressing up and going out just to get the stupid replacement sim card from Starhub (there are only 4 customer service centres and all are located in town), Isaac suggested that I meet him for lunch at UOB Plaza and he can accompany me to collect the new sim card. Seriously, I am gonna switch to Singtel or M1. Starhub’s customer care isn’t even up to mark with her competitors.

Singtel

Isaac said that when he lost his mobile in the past, Singtel got someone to deliver the new sim card to his doorstep.

M1

When my sister lost her mobile a few years back, M1 delivered the new sim card to my dad’s office (since the line was under my dad’s name then).

Starhub

Get your own ass to our customer service centre for the card! Blame it on yourself for losing it and the need for all these troubles! :P

See the difference in service?

I am so gonna kick Starhub away!

nudity

I know this blog post should be about my commencement. However, I am more interested in another topic.

NUDITY

Well, questions surrounding this word ain’t new to me. This time it was induced by a huge heading on some tabloid newspaper (the Chinese evening newspapers to be exact). It wrote that Jackie Chan admitted that he acted in R film in the past. Then I wondered to myself, is it really that wrong?

First and foremost, why do people make acting in pornographic films sound so wrong? Then, if it is wrong, why are they still being produced? Well, the answer is so simple that even non-economics student will be able to tell you that, there is DEMAND for it. And then, judging from the fact that this porn market ain’t small, it would logically mean that there is a significant demand for pornographic films.

So, let’s map it out clearly. Assuming the world is a country of its own (well, we have been talking about global village didn’t we?), there is a large pool of people involved in the porn supply market. And their livelihood can only be supported if there is a larger amount of people involved in the demand side of the porn market. Thus, if there is such a huge pool of people demanding pornography out there, why do they despise people working in the supply side? Since, it is logical that if people don’t need something, it would stop being in existence. Much like cassette tapes, walkmans etc.

However, when celebrities or people around them are proven to have acted in pornographic films, they would show disdain. Why? This is something I can’t fathom. Shouldn’t they be giving thumbs-up and cheering on the actors and actresses in pornographic films. Honestly, if no one is willing to act, there goes your porn! In this area, people are acting abnormally. Well, if you are a mac-fan or iphone fanatic, you would be at least indifferent and at the most, ecstatic when you meet someone working in Apple Inc. However, it doesn’t seem like the case when it comes to porn.

On another note, I was wondering whether nudity is such a disgusting thing that it should be avoided. Honestly, I don’t like porn. But I don’t mind watching films with nudity or sexual scenes. For me, it is really simple. Nudity and sex scenes are important if they are tools to bring across the message that the director is trying to convey. However, if sex is the message itself (i.e. porn), then maybe it’s not for me. But, that is just my insignificant opinion.

Perhaps, porn is only disgusting and all when the people who watch and the people who produce have a wrong agenda in doing so. If you look at nudity and sex as something that is natural, kind of instinctive, something that is like someone eating dinner or drinking beer, then perhaps, you won’t find people working in the line disgusting and look down upon people in that line.

Seriously, the more puzzling part is. Why do men like to watch pornographic films and am so strongly against girls, especially their girlfriends or wives, to be part of it? Don’t tell me they don’t look down on actresses in pornographic films even though they don’t want their girlfriends or wives to be part of it, it’s utter bullshit!

im jobless but engaged!! ^.^

I didn’t expect it to turn out this way. Firstly, I wasn’t expecting a proposal to come along, at least not so soon. Indeed we have been talking about marriage for quite sometime but since we couldn’t conclude on certain issues and there’s plenty of uncertainties (largely from his replies), I thought it would take at least another year.

Second, I didn’t expect a proposal ring. The wedding itself will be such a huge financial burden that a proposal ring will worsen the situation. I told him that I do not need a proposal ring since he can compensate me with a better one when we are older and he is more financially abled. HEEHEE.... (Right, I am kidding!!!!! ;) )

The day started as per normal and after church service, we went to try out this Korean Army Base Stew that we have been eyeing for a while.

It comes in a set. Served with Barley tea (My FAVOURITE!!!), brown rice, 1 appetizer of your choice (we chose potato pancake), side dishes and a dessert (Bingsoo). The Army Base Stew is a combination of some of Korea’s signature snacks and side dishes. You can find their ramyeon (essentially instant noodles), leek kimchi, cabbage kimchi, ddukbokkie (Korean rice cakes or Toppokki) and more!! It was exceptionally tasty and VERY filling!

Till then, it was just another ordinary Sunday to me. What made this Sunday special was this gift that was presented to me by the end of the day.

Shocked! So stunned that at first glance (since he didn’t give it in the box), I thought it was a fake diamond ring. HAHAHAHA… (sorry Isaac! My mistake! My bad!! =) )

Happy happy Sunday! I will remember the 18th of July!

lost for good

I have been procrastinating about installing my Adobe Photoshop in the Windows programme in my iMac. At long last, today, I finally got my indolent self to get down to doing it. BUT… BUT… BUT… I can’t find the programme!!!!!!!

I was pretty sure that I backup the programme file setup in my external hard disk. However, after rummaging through the contents of my hard disk, I still couldn’t find it!!! ARRRGGGGHHHHH… Now I lost it for good. So sad… I really want the Adobe Photoshop!!! However, to think that I need to spend hundreds to get a copy is just ridiculous! Sigh… I guess I will have to make do with MS PowerPoint till the day that I go berserk and get a copy of Adobe Photoshop. =(

Anyway, after a looooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggggggg (haha… it emphasizes the duration) while, I met up with Tarynn! It was really long since the last time we met up was a lunch with Claire. We spent quite some time at New York New York, catching up. It is always fun to chat with Tarynn. She is really funny!! HAHA… Cheer up girl! =)

Scrambled eggs burger is so so good! But the fisherman’s basket is a little overwhelming if you can’t take too much fried food.

We then went around Ang Mo Kio Central and apparently, we both felt that the new bubble tea store, KOI, from Taiwan sells REALLY good bubble tea! Much more quality than our sweet talk or each-a-cup! Didn’t take a picture though… I will highly recommend their Ice-cream milk tea!!! Tarynn is so sweet to accompany me to Tanjong Pagar and waited with me for Isaac to get off work. Too bad she had to be home for dinner. Isaac and I were thinking of dining with her since Isaac haven’t seen her for quite a while as well.

I brought Isaac to the Shabu Shabu Ramen place @ The Central, which I went with my family some time ago. Somehow, their menu changed in just this short period of time. They now only serve pork bone soup (which is the one above – milky white in colour) and the normal pork soup (brown in colour). They have an additional dipping sauce which is slightly spicy but their sesame sauce (NOTE: its SAUCE NOT oil) is still the best!!! They even provide additional condiments to enhance the taste of their soup base as it is quite bland on its own.

Well, that’s about it. =)

a step is better than none

Finally the day has come. Me, yes me, your foodie friend decided that I am fat beyond redemption and set my heart down to lead a healthy lifestyle.

So here I am, having a grapefruit after gazillion years. My first baby step to a full blown healthy regime! =)

NAH!

The only truth in the above is the fact that I am indeed fat beyond redemption now as you can judge from the picture. =( As for the grapefruit, it’s all thanks to these super sweet buah cikus!

Buah cikus are my childhood favourite! I used to have them almost everyday when I was young since I was living in Ang Mo Kio where markets are everywhere. HAHA…

However, after I moved to Sembawang, cut fruits stalls are only found in foodcourts and they don’t have the not-so-famous fruits (i.e. buah ciku). Hence, I went crazy when I saw them at this cut fruits shop at Novena Square. I bought 2 sticks at a go! HAHA…

Then, the grapefruit caught my eye as well. It was in this vibrant coat of orangey pink! Looked so delicious and sweet (Note the use of word – LOOK)! So I submitted to its irresistible beauty and bought it!

It turned out it was a hoax!!! Under its deceptive look was a juicy but SOUR taste! Remorse Remorse Remorse! Grapefruits are despicable! Tempting people with their pretty colour! =(

My mum is smarter (she was skeptical that the grapefruit was sweet despite the nice SWEET colour) and she asked me whether it is sour before attempting to try it. I refused to answer her and gave her one (or force her to try one… heehee…). She took it and apparently, she ain’t that smart after all. HAHAHAHAHAHA… Sorry mama!!! >.<

Woopie Yeappie… im not making sense

Thanks to UIP, I was lucky enough to get a pair of free tickets for the preview screening of Despicable Me!!! I watched it with baby on the 7th Jul (1 day before official screening) and in 3D!! Seriously, I thought that since its free tickets, they would just give me normal tickets. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the minions in the movies. They are so CUTTEEEE….. Very loyal, naïve, funny and cute-looking. I love simple creatures! Like myself! HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA…

My parents treated me to dinner at Kenny Roger’s @ Novena Square while Isaac was in Bintan. =( I used to love Kenny’s a lot! You wouldn’t have imagined my craziness over their macaroni cheese. Frank speaking, I have never left Kenny’s without having their mac cheese. I know I am a little weird. Most people go there for their chicken but for me, it’s their mac cheese.

Desserts at Häagen-Dazs

Since, we are at Novena, my parents naturally remembered that they have an Udder MAO SHAN WANG durian ice-cream fanatic as a daughter. However, I felt bad to make my dad walk all the way to United Square and forsake his favourite Häagen-Dazs. As you can see from the picture, we are such a chocolaty family! Belgium chocolate, tiramisu, Cappucino chocolate and a chocolate something (can’t remember the name!). Anyway, I was quite amazed to discover that Häagen-Dazs serves Sushi ice-cream (ice-cream made and shaped to look like sushi). They look like real sushi!!!

Finally, Isaac came back on Saturday for his driving test. And YIPPIE! He passed! Now I have a chauffeur!! Woohoo!!!

Brunch at Hediard. The Hediard breakfast set which comes with 2 drinks – orange juice and tea/coffee

My creamy scrambled eggs set and I ordered a William pear nectar because I’ve never had nectar before!! I don’t really like it though, I wonder whether it’s because of the cooked pear taste or I am just not a nectar person. =(

I was being madly happy at the idea of a chauffeur so I kept taking pictures of him at Hediard. Love the four fruits tea!

Even since we stumbled upon the poster of TCC’s buy 1 get 2 free promotion (buy 1 main and get 1 main and a drink free), we have been wanting to dine with them! We never had mains at TCC before so it is a good opportunity to taste and see whether they are worth dining at.

We tried their Mentaiko pasta with Tataki salmon and Seafood Aglio Olio. Both Isaac and I were looking forward to the Seafood Aglio Olio because it looks good in the picture. The Mentaiko pasta was a pleasant surprise as the sauce goes well with the pasta and the combination is heavenly! Although the salmon is mediocre, it was really soft and I like it that way. The prawns and scallops in the Seafood Aglio Olio were really fresh! Well-cooked! Delicious! As for the pasta, it is very spicy and with a weird taste. I am not sure whether it’s because I had the Mentaiko pasta before I proceeded with the Aglio Olio but there was a slight hint of ….I-don’t-know-what! To me, it should be some herb that has a scent-like taste. It would be a nice scent if it is included in skincare, cosmetics or even perfumes. However, in food, it’s a little revolting to me since I felt like I was munching on skincare, cosmetics etc. You get the picture. But still, I am willing to give it another try! Heehee… >.<

Help the Yazidis

This term maybe foreign to most of us, living safely in this part of the world. I also didn’t know about them until the KBS World documentary – The Land of Mankind.

Yazidis are a group of people who have Kurdish origins and their faith is placed in Yazidism. Before I continue further, I will just like to point out that this post is not meant to be about religions.

Yazidis do not have a land of their own that they call country and many of them are scattered in different nations as minorities. They are in Iraq, Armenia, Turkey and even many parts of Europe like Germany and France.

So, why am I bringing up this group of people to your attention?

Please help them. I have no idea how but maybe help to spread about their existence and hope that one day, the word gets to people who really could do something about it.

They are a group of people who endured persecutions throughout their generations. If you google Yazidi Genocide, you will come across lots of articles that talked about it. One of the events covered by the documentary occurred in 1915 and although, it is largely recognised as the Armenian Genocide, many of the Yazidis died during this event. This terrible crime of its time is committed by the Ottoman Turkey against the Armenian Christians and the Yazidis. It is partly due to this act of brutality that many of the Yazidis are now residing in Armenia.

Iraq also has a significant number of Yazidis but their numbers are declining rapidly due to the vast amount of terrorist attacks on their villages and mass killings such as the 2007 Mosul massacre. Yes! It is that recent! Just 3 years ago! Living here in Singapore where people from diverse religions, races and walks of life co-exist harmoniously, it is very difficult for us to imagine how it will be like to be persecuted for who you are and what you cannot change. It is also scary to note that an opposition opinion can cause you your life.

Even for those Yazidis who are living peacefully in Armenia, the future looks bleak and filled with the unknown. According to the KBS World documentary, Yazidis were not allowed to own land. Hence, many of them live in fear that one day, the Armenians might chase them away like what the Ottoman Turks did in the past.

These are innocent lives. Very very innocent lives. I don’t understand why would differences in religion lead anyone to commit the crime of murder. I do not know how the lives of other Yazidis are in countries other than Iraq and Armenia since it wasn’t covered in the documentary. I hope they are well and not persecuted or mistreated because of their religion and who they are.

momo zono

Before I began another restaurant review,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY DEARIE MUMMY!!!

She is older by one now. Time flies. A while back, I was the one who always complain to my mum of my little cuts and bruises from falls. But now, my mum is the one who tells me all her ailments of aches and all. =( Perhaps we should all, stop and look at our parents closely. Then, we will realize how much they have aged.

Since my dad had Peach Garden before and was quite satisfied with their food, we decided to take his suggestion and head over to Peach Garden @ Thomson Plaza.

Ehhh… This collage seems a little wrong. But I am too lazy to rearrange and reorganized all the pictures. :S

The picture at the bottom right shows the Peking duck that we had. Weirdly, in contrast to Beijing, they only serve the Peking duck’s skin and they would wrap it for us. In Beijing, the tradition is to slice a plate of crispy duck’s skin and a plate of the skin with meat. With only the skin served, we were given the choice to have another duck dish with the leftover meat. We decided on stir fry duck meat mee sua which I didn’t capture. To me, definitely, this Peking duck cannot be compared to what I had in Beijing. The mee sua was tasty although not fantastic. Since we were discussing the quality of the Peking duck, my dad told us that he felt that the Peking duck served by Spring Court Restaurant @ Chinatown is better than some of the Peking duck served in Beijing. Considering the fact that my dad is a foodie who loves to go to China, I totally believe him and made a mental note to visit Spring Court someday. Solely for the Peking duck. Teeheehee… >.<

The bottom left picture is their Wasabi Mayo prawns which is one of their signature dishes. My parents love it. According to them, it is better than the Wasabi Mayo prawns at the Bosses Restaurant @ Vivocity. Pardon me for the lack of comments for this dish. I am such a strong wasabi-hater that I don’t think I have anything nice to say about it and my opinion will be quite skewed. Anyway, their prawns are really fresh, huge and succulent!

Another of their signatures and what I recommend as a MUST! A MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST MUST order – Shark’s bone soup. As a shark’s fin soup lover, no other soups, not even your Buddha jumps over the wall, can win my beloved shark’s fin. But this! This heavenly shark’s bone soup! It won shark’s fin soup hands down! There are a couple of other restaurants that serve this but I am not sure whether they are all as delectable as this from Peach Garden since this is my first time drinking shark’s bone soup.

The long beans with dried shrimps and minced meat was well fried. Although it is such a common dish, the standard is better than most other restaurants.

Desserts time! Yummy yum yum!! ^.^

No comments on the almond paste with Tang yuan as I didn’t try that. I also didn’t try the coconut dish, which is your glutinous black rice with vanilla ice-cream instead of the coconut milk that it usually comes with. =)

The mango sago is one of the best I had in Singapore! It is even comparable to the Hong Kong one just that it isn’t as huge a bowl, it is more expensive and there isn’t as much mango bits in it. HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHA…..

The avocado with vanilla ice-cream is also highly recommended. Firstly, this dessert is not common and the taste is good but you may find it too creamy and thus, too strong a taste to polish it clean.

Very satisfying! Heard that Peach Garden serves great fish and steak or is it pork? I want to go back soon for the shark’s bone soup! Yummy yummy!

Bought myself a little gift while I am at Thomson Plaza. ;)

Note: I think the shark’s bone soup might be a little heaty since after consumption, my sister got ulcers and I got some pimples. But it ain’t stopping me from drinking it! Heh heh heh… Poor sharks! >.<

when i am actually living in bliss

Sometimes I get too caught up with my current troubles and frustrations that I forgot that I am actually more fortunate than most. A documentary and a short news report brought back my grateful heart and I sincerely thank GOD for my current life and situation.

The first documentary is one that is made to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the end of World War II. Honestly, World War II is such a far off event that even my parents didn’t go through (and I thank GOD for that). Perhaps, it only lives in the textbooks for us and what we heard or understand about it comes in a more objective and structured form. I could remember vividly the reasons for the rise of Japan and the defeat of Japan in World War II since I took history for “O” levels.

However, this documentary consolidated images and excerpts from diaries of common people (mostly Japanese), soldiers and public figures of that age. It made all of it seemed more real and mind-bothering than just understanding why Japan wanted to conquer the world and what are the factors that led to its defeat. I am truly thankful that I was not made to go through that era and suffer like them. We all read about the atomic bombs, negative radiation effects, bomb raids, rapes, atrocities etc. However, to actually hear it in another form (diary excerpts) made them more heartbreaking, especially if you put yourself in their shoes.

“A day before the atomic bomb dropped on Nagasaki, I left home early in the morning for work and my wife bade me goodbye. After the bombing, I wasn’t able to make it home immediately. Finally, after three days, I managed to do so. I was able to identify my wife in the midst of the ruins. She was all charred, lying on where our kitchen was supposed to stand. I put her in a bucket and carried it to the cemetery.”

~Japanese Civilian

“We were all hiding in the cave along with many Japanese civilians as the Americans cornered us. There were many women and their babies. The babies were crying loudly. The general ordered the babies to keep quiet but it did not work. Then he ordered the babies to be killed. Mothers strangled their babies. Then, the baby cries were no more only the sobbing sounds from the mothers.”

~Japanese Soldier

Many Japanese were brain-washed to believe that the Americans were devils and would torture them if they were to fall into the American’s hands. Thus, many Japanese civilians chose to commit suicide rather than surrender to the Americans. But as the images (videos and photos) captured during those troubled times suggest, the Americans did not mistreat the Japanese civilians, soldiers or merchants, let alone execute tortures like what the Japanese soldiers did to the people on their conquered lands. Many recordings showed that the Americans tried to save any pilots, navy men or merchants whose aircrafts or ships were bombed. They also tried to save the Japanese civilians and feed them immediately, since by the end of the war, the Japanese were lacking in food and water resources.

I suppose that’s why Japan, Germany and Italy of that age were able to join as allies. Their leaders and their actions displayed a striking similarity – brutality. This also highlighted the importance of information and individual autonomy in analyzing situations. Due to the lack of information and intensive propaganda from the Japanese government, many innocent lives were wasted and perished. Some were even delusional.

“Coming so far since the beginning of the war, I cannot believe that our beloved Japan will be defeated in any battles. I know I will perish in the upcoming battle but I am honoured to die while protecting my country. My only regret is that these Americans will be landing on our Japanese soil. I will become a ghost and stay on this island. I shall await our allies to come and defeat these Americans and help recover Japanese land.”

~ Japanese Soldier

“Father, Mother, please congratulate me. I have been chosen to perform the sacred task of performing suicide bombing. I feel honoured to be chosen for the task and I am glad that I can help to protect my nation.”

~ Japanese Kamikaze Soldier

The poison that ran within the minds of these young lives (at that point in time) was deadly. They are without a doubt, patriotic. Yet, without a doubt, insane.

Then, after this depressing documentary, a news story brought my spirits to a new low. This took place in Taiwan, Xin Zhu (pardon me if I spelled wrongly and my dad is a Taiwan news fanatic -_-). A guy who attained Masters and had a bright future was attacked by 5 crazy youngsters. They just didn’t like his face and had no personal grudge against this poor guy. They attacked him with wooden baton-like weapons. The guy was severely injured and he died. Within hundred days of his death, his granddad died from extreme trauma from the guy’s sudden death. His dad was said to be too grief-stricken and met with an accident. Just a few days ago, his mum who was down with cancer, lost her battle and passed away.

The Taiwanese court has sentenced each of the 5 youngsters to only 10-15 years of jail. WHAT THE HELL!!!!! Their judiciary system is so lenient! So unrealistically lenient that I couldn’t help but think that their court must be infested with bribery (I am sorry if it isn’t the case but… how can it not be the case?). And even then, some of the youngsters want to appeal because the sentence is too heavy. How atrocious!!!!! He murdered a life and he finds a jail sentence of 10-15 years too heavy????!!!!! Maybe he should be murdered one day and see if he feels that his murderer’s sentence of 10-15 years is too heavy?!

Seriously, these boys should be sent to our sunny island. They might easily be sentenced to death with free caning to go along. Crazy arseholes! 10-15 years jail sentence isn’t even enough to redeem a fraction of their crime and they still dared to appeal. I hope their judge will not be feeble and should instead, increase his jail term to compliment him for appealing.

Although I am disheartened by my woes, the documentary and the atrocious arseholes, from the bottom of my heart, I thank GOD that I wasn’t born in those turbulent periods and neither was I born in lawless nations.

it is setting in…

I guess slowly but surely, I start to feel the lifestyle changes after Isaac started working. Hmmm… for one, very obviously, during weekday nights, he seems more lethargic and tired on the phone (we would call each other every night…). Our meeting days got lesser. It isn’t very hard to adapt to the loss in meeting time but it is harder to adapt to his lack of energy.

I mean he is not a round-the-clock joker. But definitely, he isn’t someone who is boring to talk to, at least to me. Maybe it’s work and stress over whether he can perform his work well, he seems to be less humorous and lame (in the funny way) as compared to before working. It seems like on weekday nights, to get him to display some energy, the only topics are serious ones.

Oh well, I hope he can faster adapt to his working life and bring back some of his humor. ;) But I think it will be tough since his part-time masters course is going to start in August. :(

Anyway, I found a picture of my cousin’s tea ceremony in my digicam. But, you can only see the back of the newlyweds and part of my parents. HAHAHAHHAHAHHAHA…. But there are numerous crystals on the bride’s gown that I wondered aloud to another cousin beside me, whether the bride would be afraid to sit and such for fear of the crystals falling apart from her gown. Of all questions on a wedding day, why was I only capable of thinking of that? -_-

Another lucky day spent with baby on Tuesday as she took time off work for an interview. With baby, its another foodies’ day! HAHA… Too bad, baby doesn’t have a blog or take time to capture her food. If she is at it, she will be more of a foodie than me. LOL…

We shared a bowl of Oyster mee sua from Shilin Taiwan Snacks and a bowl of fishball noodles from E.A.T. (I am not sure of the name but it is definitely popular and all around the island nowadays). Then we had privé with a tea each and Eggs Benedict (classic with ham) for her and Eggs Royale (a variant that replaces ham with smoked salmon) for me. Then it’s dinner at Ajisen with Peter and desserts at Ben and Jerry. LOL… Another someone who is behind my fats.

As there are no coffee places near the company that baby had an interview with and the weather was hot, I stayed in her car. And since I was on a lookout for the “parking coupon checker”, I didn’t dare to read my book. So I ended up with camwhoring as I waited for her. After countless shots, this picture shocked me. It looked the least like me. Definitely, there are fugly pictures and not as ugly ones but they all looked like me. But this picture below, looked like someone else and it scares me a little. :S

Finally met up with Isaac yesterday (although perhaps he wouldn’t agree with the usage of finally since we last saw each other on last Sunday), and Crystal Jade was it.

Isaac and I (with my ugly hair-do =( ) and all the sources of saliva excretion.

I really love the noodle although it has nothing in it except shredded fried onion. If I am not wrong, it should be called something like la mian with onion oil. Ever since I tried it, no other la mian in Crystal Jade or Imperial Treasure’s La Mian Xiao Long Bao menu has been able to take over its number one position. And I didn’t fancy Ding Tai Fung because they didn’t have this la mian flavor. Another of my recommendation is their dessert - soufflé balls with banana and red bean paste.

The pan fried Shanghainese pork bun was a flop. I didn’t like these pan fried buns after tasting them zillion years ago. Hence, when I was in Shanghai, I didn’t try them either. However, according to Isaac, these buns are beyond amazing when he had them in Shanghai. So I decided to give them another chance. But sad to say, these buns from Crystal Jade didn’t live up to our expectations and re-affirmed my belief that ordering them is an irrational decision. But perhaps, I should try them when I get to go Shanghai again. ;)

That’s all folks!

what am i to do with my life????!!!!!!!!!

Although deep down in my heart I know that by hook or by crook I will ultimately (I hope so…) be employed and when I look back at this part of my life, I will regret feeling miserable on a daily basis just because I haven’t secure any. It is just that sick feeling of being in process. You know the end will come but at this point in time, the end seems to take the longest time and you can’t see it happening anytime soon. =( And since you can’t picture it, you start to get panicky and torture yourself by feeling miserable and like a loser everyday (that’s me anyway…). =(

I guess I should enjoy now. As many wise people have been telling me that after you start working, it will be hard to enjoy like now. But this creepy feeling of not having any job is hindering me from enjoyment. As I try to indulge in enjoyment, I have this nagging feeling that keeps haunting me with “you are jobless and yet you are enjoying”. ARRRGGHHHHH!!!!!

Then and again, is it my bad to be picky and not take up the offer I got? Should I have just taken it up in order to save myself from the nagging feeling? Perhaps not. I am looking at a career to be exact and not just a job. Definitely I want to go into something that is interesting in some sense to me. I don’t want to be doing something that I hate or is boring to me. Is it wrong that I want to find a job that I feel, at the very minimum, enjoyable in terms of its nature and learning opportunities? I mean as humans, it is rare to find people who wakes up in the morning, happily excited to go to work everyday. I mean definitely there are times where you are happy to go to work but not on a daily basis, I presume. However, at the very least, I am looking for a job where I get busy and learn things that I don’t fall asleep reading. And even if I am required to read boring stuff, I am willing to because it is a necessary step in my fulfilling task.

It’s like doing project. I don’t really fancy the research part as it is usually tedious especially since the correct sources are not provided. But since it is a vital process before you can come up with your analysis, conclusions and suggestions for your presentation and report, which are more enjoyable, you do it willingly.

I didn’t expect that this ranting of mine will end up as a post on it’s own. =P
