Thanksgiving

I know this is way past Thanksgiving (25th Nov).

I happened to come across a short story somewhere. The author was describing her Thanksgiving dinner where the whole family gathered around the table. Then, someone suggested that they should go round the table and everyone should say what they are thankful for.

I pondered to myself at that point of the story and wondered what should I be thankful about. Should it be the presence of good friends? Or my loving family? Free of deadly financial burden? Leading the life that I am leading now?

I couldn’t decide on what should I be thankful for. To save my brain from working too hard, I read on.

Then came the character that made me felt ashamed of myself. Or guilty. Either, both. HAHA..

Anyway, when it came to 5 years old Stephen. He said, “I’m thankful that Jesus loves me so well.” He went on to describe that Jesus displayed his love for us by dying on the cross.

That simple sentence made me totally speechless.

roses

I used to feel that it is only perfect that my love gives me purple and blue roses because I like them.

Then I come to realize that it doesn’t matter what colour the roses are.

What matters is that it is given to me by the RIGHT person.

There was once a wrong person who wanted to get me blue roses but I didn’t want them.

A clear and bugging feeling in me told me that I wouldn’t like the roses even though they maybe blue.

I didn’t understand then.

But now, I do.

I am in love and satisfied with my own perfect bouquet of red roses.

P.S// Yes! I looked that shabby when Isaac passed them to me! =( and oh no! what am i doing online and blogging when I am supposed to be studying!!!!!

it’s confirmed

It is confirmed that I won’t be spending Christmas in Singapore this year. Sob… Sob... I am forced to go Harbin, China with my family for holiday and will only be back on the 27th Dec.

So sad… I was looking forward to spending Christmas Eve in a club and counting down with Baby, William and Isaac who might be able to get to stay out real late. =( Gone… Now I can only look forward to New Year Eve as an alternative but the atmosphere will not be as good as during the Christmas season. =(

I wonder how the atmosphere is like at Harbin for Christmas… It is going to be freezing cold and snowing with ice sculptures within the hotel premises. Ahhh it’s been more than a year since I came back from my Beijing internship and since I set foot on China’s soil. HAHA…

Anyway, just the thought of going back to China led me to dig through my pictures to reminisce my time spent in China. LOL.

So be prepared for a massive upload of pictures!

Oh! Embrace yourself with food pictures because I think that is the only thing that I can remember clearly from my travels in China and also Fatty Wendy because I think I ate so much during my internship period. I was VERY fat. HAHA…

This is the prettiest place that I have been to. But I don’t really fancy the weather. It’s dry with strong wind at times and without wind, scorching

For people who don’t want to get a tan, you have to put on sunblock and wear long sleeved tops which is torturous during summer! Well, but you won’t want to be there other than summer because you won’t get to see such green pastures during other times of the year.

Ahhh! This is a scrumptious dish!! I remember it vividly and if I am not wrong, the name should be Men Mian. I don’t know how to translate this. It’s for the advance level. LOL

Next stop – Shanghai

Yes! Food again! I didn’t remember much about Shanghai except that disgusting first meal that I had in a small restaurant across the street from a renowned traveller’s motel whose name I couldn’t remember.

However, Nanxiang Restaurant is another story altogether. You can see Michelle slurping happily from her gigantic xiao long bao. Their normal xiao long bao and other exquisite Shanghainese tim sum were superb!! Oh! There are Nanxiang Restaurants is Singapore too! They have one at Bugis Junction and other one near the Key Point mall. I tried the gigantic xiao long bao at the Bugis Junction branch but it isn’t as nice as the authentic one I had in Shanghai. =(

I love our hostel room in Hangzhou! It has a roof window and sometimes, we would see squirrels. Hangzhou is famous for this Dong Po Rou which is essentially stewed pork belly that many loathed including me. But I still tried it as it is Hangzhou’s signature dish and it is really good! It isn’t that gross to munch on fats afterall. HAHA…

Oh! And Michelle has a kind friend who was formerly from SMU but decided to quit and go to the States for his college education. He was very nice to bring us around Hangzhou and even treated us dinner!

As the Chinese name suggests, welcome to Suzhou! It is also a beautiful place and it seemed like I had a ride through time and was back in ancient China. Suzhou still retained much of its traditional architecture and waterways. We were very fortunate to be able to get a room in a traveller’s motel along one of the oldest streets in Suzhou. Don’t ask me for the name of the street! I can’t remember. =(

I can only remember the salty bean curd (Tau Hui) which was delicious! I love it better than the conventional sweetened bean curd we had in Singapore. And there was this fried fish dish which was the best of the lot we had in a renowned restaurant. Not to forget its smelly toufu which I didn’t manage to snap!

I transited in Hong Kong before I went over to Beijing but I didn’t take much picture there. At least I can’t seem to find them. :S

But I transited in Hong Kong again before heading back to Singapore. So here is a map of the Hong Kong MRT and me with my first lunch after I reached. Then Michelle’s friend came to join us. If I remembered correctly, she is borned in Hong Kong but is currently holding a Singapore passport and studying in London. HAHA.. complicated. Oh! Maybe she has already graduated. =)

She brought us to this cats’ café where kittens and cats were left to roam around the café. They could sleep and rest at any spot in the café. I remembered taking pictures of them including one with a little kitten all rolled up in a tiny cubicle of a small table-top shelf. Once again, I couldn’t find it! =(

But I found the café’s menu and notice board!

Since my internship was in Beijing, how could I leave out my pictures there?

These were my colleagues who flown in from the Singapore Headquarters for our event. And my first time walking through the alleys in the less developed parts of Beijing.

These were my colleagues who I worked with throughout my internship period. Some of them are permanent staff and others are fellow interns from Beijing universities.

The top right hand picture is my first lunch at my workplace in Beijing. They ordered in lunch but subsequently, we were left to get our own. I quite like the food there especially the small steamboat that they called Shuai Shuai Guo at the bottom of the collage.

These are the pictures we took with our foreign exhibitors. The one on the left is a Korean and the one on the right is a good-natured and humorous Syrian.

Catch Michelle with the Olympics 2008’s mascots!

How can I leave out all the unforgettable delectable food! Miss the mutton satay barbequed in Xinjiang style plus beer the most!

I don’t know why I wanted to include Taiwan in this post. Please do not be mistaken, people who anti the merging of Taiwan and China. I am not supporting nor against the merger – neutral to be exact. Just like to post up some pictures from my Taiwan trip last year end.

Yes! Beer! So mesmerized by the humongous can of Heineken I found in one of the 24/7 convenience stores.

That’s my mum by the way! If you are wondering if it’s me since a lot of people commented that I looked like my mum. HAHA…

I am not sure you can see the Christmas tree clearly but it was a lucky Christmas tree to be decorated with Tiffany & Co’s boxes and ornaments. It was located outside the tallest building in Taipei – 101.

Okay! Now I kind of pep talk myself and I feel a lot better and positive about spending Christmas in Harbin. HAHA… Hope my trip will be interesting!

Oh! Probably, you will catch a FATTY WENDY after I come back. It’s always the case. I tend to grow fat during my overseas trip and be on a diarrhea marathon once I am back in Singapore. HAHA…

P.S.// I just realized that I forgot to state that the first place mentioned in my post is Inner Mongolia. LOL.

Crazy
Am currently crazy over this song.
It's an old old pop song from 1997 but ms. froggie here only got to know it recently.
I forgot where did I first hear it but it kept playing in my mind these few days.
Adore the chorus!

But I don't really fancy the version by the original singer.
Hence I did a search on youtube and I finally found a version that I like.

how i wish

how i wish i could

surf on my laptop while eating my muesli milk mixture,

sipping my muugi cha and just enjoy the breeze coming out from the new electronic cooler

have the television on simultaneously and multiple task between the two

read a novel when surfing gets boring and fall asleep on the couch when I am tired

I think I sound like a sloth

but I am one by nature

Too bad for the sloth, she has to work against her nature now

twitter deprived

Funny why the SMU wireless firewall allows Facebook, Blogger and all the other blogging websites but blocked Twitter.

So sad that I couldn’t sign into my Twitter account in school.

Just like to put a short sentence here.

Is it a crime (alright.. wrong word I guess…) bad to dislike your friend’s boyfriend?

I don’t want to be a bad person! =(

And to put myself in the shoes of the friend, I don’t want my friends to dislike Isaac either.. =(

Thank You lord

I met a pickpocket today.

Yes! A pickpocket! He attempted to steal my mobile from my bag but too bad for him, I caught him! He frantically stuffed my mobile back into my bag and said sorry sorry before escaping.

My mum was standing behind my dad on the escalator down. I was standing behind my mum. And this pickpocket was standing behind me. I guess he thought that I wasn’t paying attention to my surroundings because I was busy hugging and talking to my mum. But unfortunately for him, my mobile phone isn’t exactly light plus, I always pulled it out of my bag, the same way he attempted to steal it from me. Hence, I was very used to and sensitive about the change in weight of my bag when my mobile phone was taken out. Therefore, when he took my mobile, I could sense that my bag was lighter and a space in my bag that was supposed to be occupied was suddenly empty.

So I turned around in time to see him put my mobile phone from his hand which was directly behind me to the other hand. I shouted, “HEY!” I am not sure what went through his mind but he frantically stuffed my mobile back into my bag and ran off. As he escaped, he mumbled sorry sorry.

I felt lucky. I really had to thank GOD that my mobile wasn’t stolen. For one, it is my fault for tempting others as I didn’t zip my bag. But please understand that ever since I bought this bag, I only zipped it once or twice. The thing is, the first few times when I was out with this bag without zipping, I didn’t have any trouble. I was alert. Looking out for people who may come and steal my stuff but none came. Subsequently, I didn’t look out for “pickpockets” and nothing happened anyway.

But now, I start to wonder whether I had been lucky for most part of my life since I have never met a pickpocket till today or was it that Singapore is safe and I am just down on my luck today?

No matter what, I sincerely thank God that my omnia, thought tattered and torn, is still with me.

Praise the Lord!

Anyway, my family had dinner at the soup restaurant tonight. I must say that the branch at Ang Mo Kio Hub isn’t as good as the one at United Square and Causeway Point. Nevertheless, I shall post my family’s favourite dishes.

This is definitely a must-have! It is the signature dish of the Soup Restaurant. Seriously, I haven’t seen any table without this dish. It is called the Samsui Chicken and it is served with a plate of fresh lettuce for you to wrap the chicken in. =) Yum, yum! Love the sauce~!

My family’s personal favourites include the stir-fried sweet potato leaves at the top left corner of the collage. Usually, we will order the spicy one but today, somehow was an anomaly. The stir-fried fish slices with ginger and spring onions is another of our favorites and a must for us to order. It is at the bottom right of the collage. The large fried tofu at the top right is also delicious! It is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I wonder how do you fry it such that it can turn out with such a texture? Dip the tofu into boiling oil and swiftly pull it out?

The salad prawns were nice but normal. Their soups are nice but I didn’t take a picture of it. It is the normal Chinese soup in claypot. Although it looks ordinary, but it is super nice!

Feeling very satisfied and happy with my sumptuous dinner!

However, we went during the peak period hence, we have to wait for quite some time before our dishes were served. So, as my family waited, I decided to take some sneak shots!

Uh oh! But I was caught by my dad. =(

And my mum was asking me not to take her picture cause’ she felt that she was not at her best. But, I snapped away anyway! HEEHEE…

Thank you baby and william!

Missy Dumbo came in action again! Why am I always in action even after my flu is over?! Sigh….

So dumb that I could kill myself!

After much anticipation and excitement, I finally met up with Baby and William for dinner at Ion along with Isaac. We ate at this Hokkaido ramen place which is actually under the wings of Ajisen. We only found out after we settled down and placed our order. =( But their noodles ain’t bad at all! I will say palatable and contrary to what we anticipated, it was of a different genre from Ajisen.

You see, Isaac and I took some pictures as we waited for the arrival of Baby and William. Then Isaac took a picture of their arrival and I managed to capture 1 shot of them when we were in the restaurant. Baby and William doesn’t like to pose for pictures so snaps of them in my digicam are really precious! Plus, it was also rare that Baby poses and she did it for one of the photos at the restaurant! I was over the moon!

Then I had to do something stupid. There was some problem with my SD card whereby it can only be read through my laptop. My desktop totally cannot read it although I use a card reader in both scenarios. I went to google and someone commented on how you can format the card using your digicam.

Dumbo as me, went and format my SD card using my digicam! POOF! All my pictures were gone! Gone at the moment I pressed the damn button! =(

I could re-take all the pictures of my birthday presents but I couldn’t re-take all the precious pictures of Baby and William. Sighhhh….

So I decided. I made a promise to myself that…..

I AM GOING TO BRING MY DIGICAM EVERYTIME I MEET BABY!

Teehee!! Baby beware!

Anyway, I didn’t take the pictures of the delicious ramens and side dishes that we had because we were all starving. I forgot about picture-taking and went straight into attacking my food. HAHA…

Anyyway, here is the climax of the night or even day!

TADA!!!!!

Yes! My birthday present from baby is this Dior Makeup remover! I was so touched that baby went to do research on makeup removers and bought this for me all because I told her that mine is running out and I need to get a new one but have no time to look out for one. ;)

Not to forget,

CHANG CHANG CHANG CHANG!

A sweet present from my idol – William! HAHA… He is so nice to get me something for my birthday. Felt bad that I didn’t get him anything for his. =(

Anyway, my holiday mood needs to cease NOW NOW NOW! Please…..

I’ve got a presentation on Thursday and a project due next Monday, so I need to get into the workaholic mood if not, I might just chui again. Plus, given missy dumbo’s traits, I don’t know whether I will create anymore additional troubles. =(

Once again, great thanks to Baby and William for your wonderful gifts!

prelude

The school’s network sucks! But what to do when you want to blog in class? HAHA…

Yesterday was a happy happy day for me. (OMG! This sounds so much like pri sch…. =S) I have a very special guest who turned up at my doorstep, smelling better than good! ^_^

It is supposed to be a combined present for anniversary and my birthday. I was surprised by the present. It never occurred to me that my present will contain living thing. LOL. Anyway, I just bathed in the second collage so I looked damn chui….

Enjoy experimenting with my camera’s functions so I ended up with a compilation of the same bouquet of roses under different settings. GOSH! I looked like a double-faced person in black and white in the above left photo! =(

Since its anniversary, thus, I have to reciprocate with my gift. It contains too many pages to be put up here, so I will just upload one of the pages. Basically, what I did was to develop our pictures and put them in an A4 pocket file. HAHA.. yes.. A4 pocket file and not a proper photo album. HEE… (Cheapo again…)

We didn’t have an anniversary celebration. Instead, we had a pre-birthday celebration at New York New York with my family.

Haha… I was forcing everyone to take picture while waiting for our food to be served.

HAHA.. In the bottom right photo, mama loo and I seemed to be fighting over the award for the “Largest Arm Ever”.

Check out my parents who are in “lovers’ attire”. HAHA… ^_^

Then, stay hello to the delectable spread from New York New York.

Isaac’s order: Devil’s fiery fish and chips. But not to worry, other than the minimum chili powder on top, nothing about it is fiery. HAHA

Daddy looloo and mama looloo decided to share a whole spring chicken.

Last but not least, I got the Atlantic Lemon Dory for myself and my sis ordered their Ribeye steak. And to make up for my lousy and boring Halloween, I ordered a “Bloody Eyeballs” which is a supposed Halloween drink. ;)

And for desserts… we had a mud-pie with ice-cream which I forgot to take a snap of. =( BOO!

But the GIGANTIC BANANA SPLIT IS JUST AS EXCITING!!!!!!!! (Baby, I swear you are going to love it! You will have an overdose of your favourite dessert!)

We were so fascinated with the gigantic banana split that we took photo with it. TEEHEE…

I was pretending that the banana split is my birthday cake. I was very much in love with the “bowl” used in serving the banana split. It reminded me of martinis….So I decided to use it as my martini-cup.

CHEERS EVERYONE!!! IT’S PARTY TIME!

Or rather, pose like I am having a humongous martini.

My candy floss fanatic sis will never fail to lay her hands on the complimentary candy floss provided by New York New York.

We are equally crazy over it. =P

After the dinner, while everyone is slacking and waiting for the bill, I took a shot of everyone while they were feeling bloated. HEEHEE…

And myself?

HEH HEH.. so excited to see baby later for another cam whoring session! ;) ;)

Not to forget my birthday present! *Jumpy Jumpy*

Mr mugger: Good-bye North, Hello East!

On Friday, Mr. Mugger bade good-bye to the Central-North and off he went to the East. =(

And Missy Dumbo went down to his Bishan flat to help Mr. Mugger and his family with the moving.

They engaged this moving company which is cheaper than other moving companies because they are a charity organization aiding ex-convicts and ex-drug addicts. It is called the Bethesda Aftercare Centre and their contact number is 62800648 or mobile number 81610345. Kindly support them if you need to move house or office and you can help your wallet too in the process!!

They are really quite professional with their superb packing skills and amazing van-packing skills. Just look at how they packed Isaac’s family’s stuff. They managed to squeeze stuff enough for 6 people including furniture, into 3 vans (do you call that kind of vehicle vans or trucks?).

However, the moving company only had 2 vans to spare so they need to make 2 trips. So, missy dumbo was left with the task of taking care of the Bishan apartment while Mr. Mugger and Daddy Mugger followed a van each to their home in the East.

And I was bored. So very bored till I wanted to fall asleep since I slept at 4.10am that same day. And so, equipped with my trusty canon digicam, I started to shoot like a lunatic! Teehee…

I took multiple pictures of myself in front of this full-length mirror.

And toggled with my digicam and took pictures of the same place using different functions.

And last but not least, took the weirdest things and views there were. This collage totally highlighted the intensity of my boredom.

Anyway, Mr. Mugger and Daddy Mugger came back but Daddy Mugger had to leave with the van for a last trip back before he comes back to fetch us in his car. So, Mr. Mugger and I started to clean up the house a little while a storm started brewing. Then it poured like mad at 5plus. So we were kind of stuck.

Then I was bored again. HAHA…

I made a straw hair band for Isaac and took crazy pictures of him in it. Daddy Mugger only came back at 7plus but by then, Missy Dumbo needed to head home and have dinner with her poor mama who was abandoned by daddy looloo as he had to attend a meeting cum dinner. So I haven been to his new home at the East.
